Success Stories - Aldingbourne Trust (Work Aid)
James Faulkner
James was referred by his tutor at Northbrook College. He was seeking voluntary work after finishing college. James completed a Health and Safety course on the computer and received a certificate of competence. James had said that he would like to proceed to voluntary work within an office environment, and a suitable placement was found for him as an administration support assistant at Mencap. James attended an interview and was offered the position.
James has been working at Mencap for one day a week. His duties include archiving old files, photocopying and updating information on a database. James is pleased that he is gaining experience whilst progressing towards paid employment. James has also learnt to travel independently by bus between his home and voluntary work placement. James has now been referred onto Breakaway for further employment support. Without the Steps To Work Partnership it is unlikely that James would have been able to progress towards work after leaving college.
