Southdown Supported Employment

Mental health employment support service
This free West Sussex vocational service is provided by
Southdown Supported Employment in partnership with Sussex
Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. It is open to people who are
currently accessing the trust's mental health teams - the Community
Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) or Recovery Teams - or Early
Intervention Services. Southdown offers people the support
they need to achieve their individual employment goals.
Eligibility is based on an individual's aspirations to
secure paid employment. It is not subject to people receiving
health-related benefits or diagnoses.
The support we offer is based on the principles of the
individual placement and support approach - please visit the
Centre
for Mental Health's employment section for more
details.
Your employment specialist can offer you support with:
- securing paid employment, part or full time in competitive work
settings;
- finding suitable training opportunities as a stepping stone to
achieving paid employment;
- time-limited voluntary placements (to develop a recent and
relevant employment record);
- application forms, CVs, interview preparation, disclosure
advice about people's mental health experiences relating to the
workplace;
- job start and follow up in work reviews; and
- retaining existing employment where a disability or health
condition poses a serious risk to being able to keep your job.
Southdown employment specialists are integrated
into
CMHTs,
Recovery Teams and Early Intervention Teams across West Sussex.
They provide a one-to-one service to help clients explore their
employment aspirations.
